i am a lifelong fan of Bono, and one of the reasons for this is due to his activism and humanitarian efforts over the past 25+ years. however, i agree that it was Lennon who paved the way for musical activism. Dylan was probably one of the earliest pioneers, but i don't think he ever achieved the level of worldliness and humanitarian awareness that Lennon achieved. every artist with a conscience owes a debt to Lennon.

I was never directing my comment at Bono. I'm just saying John was a pioneer, if you will, for being an activist.
