  • I WAS THERE

  • @GARYROBERTALLEN1 I thought that was you!!

  • It sickens me that Gregg and Claude booted Dickey from the band. Gregg couldn't even figure out the right time to sing on this one, and he continues flubbing lyrics to this day, yet Dickey is the one who gets booted. Give me a break! Dickey was the heart and soul of the allman brothers band. They are now nothing more than a cover band, Derek notwithstanding.

  • GEEEZ!! I'm sorry for ruining your friday night. I only posted this an hour ago and the first thing i get is a rant!!! no thanks for posting!!!

  • Thanks for an awesome vid! lol!

  • Thanks, yea I didn't put too much trust into what dbryan999 said, his bio puts him at 108 years old. He would have been in his 70's when the Bros were in thier prime, and you know how old people can be !!!

  • @1i1feat classic.

  • I have not seen the Allman Brothers Band play recently. Most of the times I did see them Dickey Betts was with them. AND ... most of the time I was sobber. No I am not looking for a pat on the back for that. I mean I was coherent. I have heard Gregg mess up lyrics. More so though I have heard Dickey Betts play lousy. His ability to keep time with the other band members during songs was not there.

  • Was there in 94, missed Dwayne

  • @jbinthesky

Yeah, crispy board tapes, for sure. Mine cut before the end, though. Warren still had that slippery slide thing goin' on, Allen was starting to womp it on bass, and Dickey was still with it. Awesome.

  • My dad was a southern rock guy so I grew up on the classics. Names like Duane Allman, Steve Gaines and anything VanZant were to be respected. A friend of mine said that he thought that the Derek/Warren team was better than the Dickey/duane one. My first reaction was to warn him that people have been shot for less. But after watching the dvd they did a few years ago, I had to agree. They respect those that came before them but add just enough of themselves to make it amazing.

  • @dbryan999 Please... Dickey got booted because he wouldn't get clean and he is a HUGE diva. They're still a great band. Derek Trucks is the best guitar player out of this generation... he gives them the excellent slide playing they had been lacking since Duane died. Warren Haynes is awesome too.

  • @dbryan999: Well, if a raging, screaming drunk was the leader of your band you might well part company with him too, rather than see the band fold again in the face of this abuse.

  • @dbryan999 listen man he was most of the band but gregg booted him because dickey was drinkin' and messin up the songs they were playing i wish i could see him too now but thats just the end they got derek and warren now which in my case is even better than dickey......
