This is a demonstration of the Boss OD-3 Overdrive Pedal. I am using the settings suggested by Boss in the user manual. This video illustrates the 'Booster' sound described by Boss. The effects pedals and amplifiers are controlled via a Gig Rig Pro 14.

0.00 - 0.24: Example of clean amp channel, no effects

0.25 - 0.36: Riff played dry

0.37 - End: Add Boss OD-3

Hi,

I have a Proco Rat and I'm thinking of buying this pedal to use them separated and if it is possible, mix like a booster. Is this really possible? Is it a good option? Mixing these pedals is not my principal interest, but it is one possibility to think in this pedal. I'd like to know your opinion. Thanks and great job.

I wouldnt buy this as a boost. Look into the SPF Ego Booster. I have some demo vids on that pedal

Craig, have you ever tested the new Boss FBM-1 (the one that simulates a Fender '59 Bassman amp)? I bought one, but I`m not satisfied... I can get a similar tone with a regular amp, an overdrive pedal and low/mid/hi knobs of my amp... thinking about selling it.

I have tried it. And I have a bandmate who uses it through a THD head. He gets a great sound from it. He uses on his clean channel to get a slightly warmer only slightly driven tone. But if it doesnt tick the boxes for what ur looking for from the pedal then sell it!

Yes, a strat with heavy strings (11's are fine) and a TS9 (which I have) will get you the tone through most amps. Yes, he played vey strong. I get lessons with a teacher who takes him off perfectly and it's a real workout. Anabolic fingers= truth. You've got to wrestle that guitar. He was all strength. The SD-1 does give good texas tone for cheap though. He used Marshall clean and Fender dirty my teacher says.

Tks guys... since my first query to Craig I've done some internet research and found out that SRV used to play with a classic tubescreamer such as Ibanez TS-9 or Maxon OD-9... the rest of the gear would be a Vox Wha pedal and a Fender amp with a bit of reverb... but I think his secret tone was in his anabolic fingers punishing 0.12 strings... brutal man...
