Back in the '90s, my family owned an EchoStar satellite system. I remember we had access to Warner Cable and EchoStar Satellite.

For those who don't know, I was a huge Peter, Paul & Mary fan growing up. So when I was five years old, my parents recorded the Peter Paul & Mary Christmas Concert off PBS. They apparently used the EchoStar satellite instead of our standard broadcast cable.

At the end of this VHS tape is this PBS Satellite schedule feed. I don't know much about how this worked, however. But this is historic enough for me to go ahead and post on here. If you have any information on how this actually worked, particularly the times used in this, let me know.

  • Terrific find! I wonder if there is anyone who had a satellite system in the 1970s which picked up the PBS Satellite feed, and if there were program schedule listings which had a still of the tri-colored PBS I.D. logo in the background. Someone has told me that whenever there were problems with the satellite feed, a still of the tri-colored PBS I.D. logo would appear.

  • This is a month before "The Puzzle Place" premiered.

  • European TV-esque

Note the times, just a solid number. There are some videos similar to this, if you search for Sky early 90s, or late 80s on Youtube.

I didn't think they did this on satellite in the US. Was it C-band?
