I suggest you read my posts again. I believe I have answered your concerns. Iran has never been about one particular culture, but in time it has evolved into one with minor differences amongst the Azari's Kurds, Blouch, Bakhtiyari, Pasri etc.. Within a family you have grievances! It's a norm, its human nature! But I insist that these are our internal issues. Rather than putting your emotional hat on, try your logical and you'll see the point I am trying to make.

You r not getting me.This is about embracing cultures, customs & heritage. "bani adam azay yek digarand , keh dar afarinesh zeh yek goharand" I am paraphrasing that line of poetry that speaks volumes. My point is not a diversionist one but one of recognition that we evolved differently with intermingled customs that has added to the richness of our society. Respect and celeberate the richness of heritage and stop this nonsense ignorant reactionary behavior. <EOM>

History matters. It matters as Iranians despite the invasion of Arabs and occupation of their land for 800-900 years managed to hold on to their identity. With your theory if US stays in Iraq for a few hundred years and their language changes to English, the Iraqi's would become Anglo-American culturally and their history irrelevant. Btw, you are not the only one with a PhD in this forum, I am not sure why you mentioned this?

The Swiss that you are so enthusiastically describe have taken care of funds belonging to many nasty regimes, individuals for decades including the Nazi Germany. I am sorry but we seem to be infatuated by all things western and I trace that back to Ataturk legacy. I come from a more ancient land that is proud of its many achievements and would like to resurrect and do them all over again and better.

Not to mention in Turkish! The people of Azerbaijan have a mixed rich heritage of thousands of years, from Persian, Greek, Arab to central asia and a major passage way on the silk road that brought people together from east to west. In shahnameh, Firdausi referred to them as the tourian, I suggest you read your shahnameh before coding genetics.

This is about our contemporary history, the people of Azerbaijan, should have the right to celeberate their heritage, their language and customs. As a native of iran and Azerbaijan, I can relate to what it is to be a Turk in a Fars society. To speak Turkish at home and be forced to speak Farsi at school. Its not acceptable when Tabriz university, the second oldest university in Iran, does not teach Turkish!

Nor should you try to impress unsuspecting people with cut and pasted jargon. Having said that, this is not 3000 years ago, we are not talking medes or parthians, we are not talking genetics either, anyone one of those are topics far too deep for this conversation, I leave them to the anthropologists and social scientist and whoever else.

As a professional scientist (mathematician), and a native of iran azerebaijan I know enough about the demographics of my people, not to mention statistics and genetics. The same history you are refereeing to, I too am familiar with, you'll be hard pressed to educate me on anyone of those topics.
