For this lesson, we will cover bending notes and vibrato. Bends and vibrato are critically important for any solo.

A player's vibrato can really define their style. Just listen to any of the best guitarists and you will hear some really awesome vibrato that adds a lot to any solo.

Bends are a seemingly easy technique, but it is also very easy to get it wrong. Having a good bending ability is another thing that differentiates a novice player from an advanced player.

  • when i use vibrato i use my fingers and move them back and forth. are there any backlashes to doing it this way? or is it better to learn how to do it the way you say, by moving my forearm?

  • So you mean you do it going horizontally instead of vertically? In that case, you will just get a shaky type of sound instead of a true wide vibrato. So if that's what you want it's fine. But because a guitar has frets, you won't really be changing the pitch of the note too much. So I'd say go vertically instead.

  • hi

er i was wondering whether you could do a cover of cemetry gates. It's a wicked song and from your other vids ive noticed you can pinch harmonic like a bitch! \o/

  • Thanks man but I won't be doing any covers for a while because I'm working on my own original material.

  • 2:35 made me lol

  • that's so true, you can spend years and years on technique and speed but if that last note sounds like a dying cat the playing will come over as 'average' or even 'beginner' and it makes you feel bad also. So everyone should deffinatly work on vibrato. Lynch once said that the more 'mature' you get on guitar the more you slow it down and make it wider.

  • Horrible *puts gun in mouth*

  • duddeeeeeeee u fuckin garrrrrrbbbbaaaggeeeee
