Israel's consul general in New York, Asaf Shariv, says his nation regrets the deaths of civilians as it seeks to stop the Hamas rocket attacks being launched. But he argues that Israel has used restraint for eight years of attacks. And he puts the blame on Hamas for using civilians as human shields in an attempt to draw public support toward its cause.
Shariv, appearing on News Talk Online on Paltalk.com today said the Hamas actually wants civilians to die in order to win a propaganda war that, he believes, they are losing.
He's hopeful that the Israeli's military success, for which he is unapologetic, will put the Hamas rocket firing program out of business. That the Palestinian Authority will gain control of the Gaza. And that a successful peace process will ensue between Israel and a Palestinian government not bent on Israel's destruction.
