Some people say that the bearing edges on them were screwed up and didn't sound right on the drum. The set at :52 is nice.

just to say they came out in '72. my drumstore has a ludwig vistalite 1972 in tequila sunrise and the instructions manual with it says 1972

I've been playing on a Yellow set of Vistalites for 37 years now. Must say I never cared for the sound of the snare drum, just can't get that snap out of it. And all the drums MUST be muffed using dead ringers or some sort of padding, and for sure in the bass drum the over tones are very present in these drums. And damn are they loud! You don't need to hit them very hard to be heard. Click my user name to listen to them 37 years ago. But all in all Ive love them never had a problem with them.
