It's funny how people write Starship off because of the hits 'We Built This City' & 'Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now' but listen to album tracks like this and it will blow you away! Grace & Mickey sounded so great together!
The album over all was not to my liking but I did always like this song. Grace wasn't writing anything on Knee Deep. No Protection was so much better but I prefer the period between !967 to 1978
The 80's AOR scene is indeed a network... many interesting connections back and forth, Def Leppard, Starship, Robert John "Mutt" Lange, Tommy Funderburk, Airplay, David Foster...
These lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin, who is best known for his long-time songwriting partnership with Elton John, and who also wrote the lyrics for "We Built This City". Elton was going to write music for this lyric for possible inclusion on his 1986 LEATHER JACKETS album, but Bernie had to tell him not to use them, as he forgot he'd already given them to Starship!

I need to re-purchase Knee Deep in the Hoopla. My CD was stolen last year when someone broke into my car.
