Bit of a flaw in the system relying on the launch's motor to maintain it's speed once in the water so they can slack the cable and release it. And then when the motor fails, the lift cable becomes a tow line, towing from the center of the launch causing it to broach. Rigging a separate towline, from somewhere forward on the main vessel to the bow of the launch might have helped. Release the lift cable, then motor up, put slack on the towline and release that.
