For the years 58-63 the US Special Forces had to arm enough of the rebels and then sufficiently antagonize them (by slaughtering hamlets), to guarantee a sufficiently large enough target in the rural areas of South Vietnam to justify the full blown invasion of the south by 1965.

An INSURGENCY (meaning the border crossers from the north) did not materialize until 65-66.

This narrator misses a vital point.

A suspected VC sympathizer could be any rural South Vietnamese what-so-ever, and it was defined thusly on purpose. It was an excuse to exterminate the entire southern rural population, and carpet bombing was utilized to vaporize refugee camps full of villagers that had fled their habitation to undeveloped hinterland as combat had savaged their homes.

In 71 the Media had there way, as is brought out in the R, that I mentioned below, but Phoenix was exonerated just a couple years later from the exagerated BS that anti-Americans still use?
