  • PLEASE READ! Are we really living in SECULAR India? Why are we suddenly seeing sectarian religious symbols on OUR (ALL INDIANS) NATIONAL CURRENCY (eg "cross" Re2 coins)? WHERE IS THE MAP OF INDIA and SATYAMEVA JAYATE (which symbolize ALL the Indians)? The use of ANY religious symbol on our (INDIANS OF ALL FAITHS) NATIONAL CURRENCY for propagation of religion is UNCONSTITUTIONAL! LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! Read the petition online ("cross" on 2Re coin petition). KEEP INDIA SECULAR! Jai Hind!

  • And just to upset a few Scots! the British Governments ran by mostly Scottish Politicians despite the fact the Scots do all the moaning :p! so blame the Scots!! (I love the Scots really :)).

  • And Together, the English, Welsh and Scots and also to a large extent the Irish. Have achieved many things to be proud of, Scientifc, Cultural, Literature. The relationship between England and Scotland, two once mortal enemies alone is something of pride for the UK and how it has become the most tolerant society in the world. For all these reasons, I prefer to see it stay together, England is guilty of crimes in the past more so hundreds of years, those responsible are now dead.

  • A response to both the message on my page and this :). I'm part English myself and a proud Welshman. Perhaps why I call myself British, the Welsh had a hard time in the mines and suffered a lot generally, but so did many English people working in the mills and the factories. I don't want Independence and many don't, at the end of the day that stuff belongs in the past, it is a small Island, cross breads of many races and if we can't learn to share an Island together what hope has mankind got.

  • When will Wales be an independent nation like ireland

  • sadly the reality though, is if the UK didn't do it someone else would have, probably far worse. I also don't think there are many Countries even now, who would turn down the China, a so called victim of the past, has displayed this with its actions in Africa and Tibet and its not going to be the only Country.

  • Which we're not, and that the problem you describe appears larger than it really is. I'm balanced, like i've always said the British Empire was the better of Empires (doesn't make Empire right in any sense), I still take pride in its accomplishments, such as banning slavery in 1835, all though it at times still happened but it was a step in the right direction. Though I also take responsibility and the shame for the evil stuff it also did. The whole thing was a story of contradiction,

  • Thanks :). It's none existant in our Education system, unless of course you go to one of the more so called "respected" places of learning, ordinairy people learn about Hitler. There are those who run around, going on about how great it is, but usually their just a minority and silly young people who havn't grown up yet. Sadly the problem isn't just in this Country, there is an illusion thanks perhaps to the education systems of other Countries, that the British are still imperialistic

  • Your scrupels does you credit. I regret to inform you how ever, that it is a far too common fenomenon to celebrate the british empire as the most exalted exampel of statecraft. I agree that it is elevation through education that remove such illusions.

  • Actually I'm Welsh though British first. However I get what you mean, but rather the establishment of the time at least those responsible for the bad stuff as there were a few good individuals amongst them, just sadly not enough. But all the same, as a Brit, Im sorry for the bad stuff we did and I know most of us if educated about it, would feel exactly the same. :)

  • Agreed. I distinguish between English=Ordinary people and Brittish=The imperialists and anyone who defends that system.
