Adam Swanson performs this sparkling old tune from early in the 20th Century. Adam informed me that this tune was written by James P. Johnson with lyrics by Henry Creamer, and it was only released on a very rare piano roll in 1926.

This was recorded during the Afterglow Party on a Sunday night during the Annual West Coast Ragtime Festival of 2008. The festival happens in mid November at Sacramento, California.

  • I so wish I could have been playing this kind of music when I was taking lessons at that age. Instead I was stuck with the John Thompson course. YUUCCCCK!!. This song is great and well played! Great Harlem period sound. Where oh where did you get the sheet music? I've looked everywhere. Or did this talented lad listen to the roll and play it by ear? TDub??

  • I don't have the answers, but you can ask Adam himself on his YouTube channel @ adamgswanson.

    Thanks for the interesting comment.
