(Lyrics below)
Due to budget problems several local schools are facing closure and the jobs of hundreds of local teachers (including my brother and many friends) are on the line. It's a statewide problem - Please write Gov. Perry at http://governor.state.tx.us/contact/ and tell him to tap into the Rainy Day Fund to help save the education system in Texas or accept the $830 million in federal assistance he turned down. Lyrics:
Books fly open
and our pages turnin
and our eyes wide open
and our minds are learnin
...Children's hands are raisin
teachers' lessons stickin
the problems the adults are facin
have a better way of fixin
It's a rainy day in Austin
And We need a helpin hand
It's a rainy day in Austin
But we're not waitin for Superman
We need a better plan
Kids aren't the ones to blame
So Don't make them pay
Big boys and girls
walkin to school
bags on their backs
instead of the backseat
Every hood needs a heart
try to look inside of yours
you'll see it's where the children are
so don't lock its doors
It's a rainy day in Austin
And We need a helpin hand
It's a rainy day in Austin
But we're not waitin for Superman
We need a better plan
Kids aren't the ones to blame
So Don't make them pay
