CP and CN came to the class at BCIT and interviewed the students within the 2nd month for CP and closer to the end of the program for CN. I liked the course, it is intensive because it is BCIT. I was hired before I even finished the course. I start training in Vancouver at CP on Monday :D.

I just want to know some basic stuff like differences between cp and cn, and some other simple stuff about the job itself..

I am just finishing up the BCIT course in the next 3 weeks. I cant tell you weather George Brown has a better practicum, but I can say I am pleased with the teachers and their knowledge at BCIT. I can also say that CP came in the first month of school and hired 90% of the class, contingent on graduation of course. As for getting hired off the street, good luck with that and the other thousands of applicants. I know definitely that the BCIT course was integral to me being hired at CP.

@f304 hello i live in the vancouver area, and was thinking of joining the bcit program for railway conductors. From past comments on this video, I am concerned about job oppurtunities after completing the program.

I have a kind of crappy past, aka dropped out of college, and honestly do not have good recommendations from past jobs. 

I am concerned about spending all this money on the program and then not finding a job, cause my past resume is less than stellar.

What are my chances?

the one from BCIT is really good, after u are done the school calls u back to help you get a job at one of the railroads. you got to start as a conductor and work your way up to a locomotive engineer.

I would recommend that you save your money, don't bother taking any railway conductor program (let alone George Brown), and just try getting hired off the street. Given the way the economy is, good luck with that!

What would you recommend? I would like to become a locomotive engineer, but I guess I would have to go through being a conductor.
