I did a basic review of the Honeywell Prestige Thermostat.

The music during the Christmas decorations was composed and played by Champagne Millionaire. You can check him out at: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID...

  • Dr. Z, could you do a basic wiring & review video for the old Honeywell round mercury thermostats.. I run across a lot of them and the folks don't want to change.

  • @ristin59 I will if I can every find an old Honeywell mercury thermostat.

  • I just received mine from the US... DANG!!!! My heater only gives me two wires!!! No idea if i can connect this... Will need help from an expert.

  • @edgecrush3r If you don't know where to connect the wires then I'd have to say that you should have a qualified tech do the work.

  • Hello I have a question will the Prestige Thermostat work with a gas furnace or is it just made for a heat pump?

  • @Nowayout360 Yes, it will work with a gas furnace.

  • HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! What, I can't have your password?

  • Again, to the lazy whiners on here... I've been at the Honeywell site for 30 seconds and already found some of your answers. Yes you can hook this up with only 2 wires. How about using your lifetime more wisely and instead of nagging the poster of this video for stuff lazy YOU think he left out, how about going to the horse's mouth at Honeywell and looking up the answers yourself. Adopt this behavior in most of your life and you'll do much better, guaranteed.

  • Thx. for the review... well done. As for the few whiners on here saying you missed stuff in your video... how about they use their head and review the manuals at the Honeywell site (man, people have gotten lazy... they don't even need to get off their ass anymore, just go to another site for info). I will review the product myself as I would hope the outdoor sensor can also be hard-wired. Batteries don't perform well during winter months. Thx. again for posting your review.

  • You didn't explain ANYTHING about the wiring setup which is the most important part of installation! You just pulled all the old wires and connected the new to seemingly random locations. Some people have 2 wires, while other have 4,6 or 8... not to mention some points can be jumped.

Anyone wanting product info or menu setup can easily get vids and PDF's direct from Honeywell's "forwardthinking site. So the only people left to watch this are novice installers like myself, who you haven't helped

  • Ummm...IMHO, this shows how NOT to change a thermostat, at least for the amateur. As one is disconnecting EACH old lead, it should be labelled off what terminal it came (R, W, G, Y, etc.) so that there is less chance for error connecting it to the new terminals. just sayin...

  • You are absolutely right... The prestige is way to expensive to destroy it ;) also we have different electric current over here, so however i am good at electrics.. i am not an expert ;)
