Tried to see Be-Bop on US tour in 77, sat through atrocious warm-up act. An hour later, MC announced that the show was cancelled! Fast-forward 27 years. London, 2004. I flew there, front row-center, Bill rocked! He chatted politely for 15 minutes or so afterward, signed my programs, laughed when i told him how long I'd waited to hear "Maid in Heaven" live. Legendary!
this sure brings back memories. growing up in L.A. in the '70's, Be Bop Deluxe was on all the rock stations (KLOS,KMET and KWST) i still have my vinyl of these guys. why they didn't go to superstar status is a mistery?? playing drums in many bands, all the guitar player were doing Bill's riffs and solo's. why not! they were the best at the time. sad we lost a great bass player and back-up vocalist some years back. keep rock'n.
Loved this band and first saw them at Duke of Cumberland in North Ferriby nr Hull as we was living in the area was the time of AXE VICTIM still have all the vinyl including special 45's Sunburst Finish was bought for me by my girlfreind at the time who lived in Brough - Hiya Ruth what a night that was will always love BBD
