  • @yourwarut wow i didnt know that!

    Thanks for the infomation!

So 'sawasti', or as we call 'swad' in Thai mean 'welfare' ..

Thai language has adopted lots of vocabulary in Sanskrit, including people's name (and also my name lol)

Sawasdee was actually invented during the World War 2 period when Thailand , just to be equivalent to 'Hello'.

  • @yourwarut oh! so i guessed right, swastika was orginally a sign for good luck, health or prosperity & sawasdee and swasti are the same idk what the last 'ka' in swastika in sanskrit means tho, must be the same as 'kha'...any way i was a bit shocked to hear flight attendants speaking in sanskrit hahaha

  • @dennis13592

No. sawasdeekha doesnt have anything to do with swastika.

i'm not sure what sawastika really means but i guess this word appear in Sanskrit.

Sawasdee comes from a Sanskrit word too which means something like: good, healthy life

'kha' is the word used only by women (for men it's 'krab') just to make the word Sawasdee polite.

Both kha and krab are Thai, not from Sanskrit.

  • does swasdee kha have to do anything with swastika? the symbol hitler used?

  • @shasa58 Mi ricordo negli anni ottanta Alitalia aveva assistenit di volo cosi' educate e graziose. Adesso sono diventati come gli aerei Americane.

  • The way they greet you so graciously you would think you were in first class. Wonderful!
