virtualinsanity2k: judging by your posts i doubt you could build anything. you sound stupid. seriously, this box is a big step forward in non-geek ware in the entertainment room. it plays almost every av format.
of the basis suxx, in terms of cpu power, network power , chipsets and gfx, everything you can do with this box will be sub optimal. on top: IF i want some nerd-techi box, then i expect that this box is very cheap. but in this case the box is expensive AND i have to script etc alot by myself...anyway...i still have the box...installed CSI etc...changed some backgrounds...leeched some blurays....its not what ive expected but it is how it is....
Based on your expressed needs, indeed, you should build your own HTPC system.
The C200 is not sold in most regular shops and it is a device for enthusiasts and tinkerers. But those who aren't worried about spending some time learning about what it can do usually become very happy with it.
Does your NAS play BluRay discs and high definition MKV and MP4 files straight to your full HD TV and FLAC and APE music files straight to your home audio system? Have you complained to your NAS manufacturer about that? The Gigabit connection on the C200 is limited, yes... but the C200 is not supposed to replace a NAS, and it is faster than 10/100 Mpbs.
I am not denying that, but again, you show yourself to have had unrealistic expectations, and nowhere in the description of the C200 does it say that unraring is supported - it's an added service developed by the user community.
If you want to do heavy multitasking or extensive downloading, you need more CPU power such as that in a NAS or PC. With your needs, you would not be happy with any networked multimedia player currently on the market.
i dont have to learn techtalk, i want a system which works, otherwise it should not be sold. if i want to have some techbox, i buy some atxminiboard etc and build the system by myself. but this system is advertised that it works out of the box and it doesnt. if this box is something for nerds then rename it to nerdbox.
this "system" is not even close to me ready for the mainstream market.
gigabit ? comon. have you ever tried to copy some file from a share to the c200 ? when i copy a file to a NAS i got something like 80-100mb/s. when i copy something to the c200 i got ...hmm..20mb/s. so dont waste time to discuss about speed and c200...
Visit the NMT forums if you want to learn more about what the C200 can and can not do from people who are using it and understand it properly. If you want to compare devices from other manufacturers with it, check out AVSforums or MPCClub - both places are neutral forums for media player enthusiasts. Knowledge is power.
Your point about nzbget being capped is correct, but it does not mean the player is crap, it just means you can not expect the device to perform like a computer that has a 4-5 times faster CPU. If you had taken some time to understand what this player does well, and what it does less well, you would not have been disappointed in that regard. The positive points about the player are many, you failed to mention any.

if the system unrars files, you cant do anything. the menue freezes, the network connections drops, everything is on hold.
if you use 20+ ssl usenet connections which is standard, the whole system freezes.
