Based on eyewitness written accounts. In the 17th century, a Bulgarian Christian region is selected by the Ottoman rulers to serve as an example of conversion to Islam. A Janissary who was kidnapped from the village as a boy now serving the Ottoman sultan is sent to force the reluctant inhabitants to convert. The Bulgarian christians have to chose between physical annihilation and losing their spiritual identity. Ultimately torture, violence, and rebellion break out. Based on real events and the novel "Time of Parting" (Vreme Razdelno) by Anton Donchev.

The novel is based on two individual eyewitness written accounts - by the priest Aligorko and the Venetian. The resulting text is a translation of the original French and Old Bulgarian (Old Church Slavonic) texts. All names, characters and events appear in the original manuscripts.

Your semantic bulgarian language skills are on par with your spelling english language skills.

It's "Razdelno" not "razdeleno" which comes from "razdyala" and means "parting" in this context. Get a clue.

And your history knowledge seems even more laughable....

  • @zarni000 hm when the sultan conquered thessaloniki broughted ottomans settlers and hunted down the christians and jews. After short time the once trading port city with wealth became a ghost city then the sultan called them back with the promise of better treatment and rights.

The ppl went back with all their arts, craftmenships and trading skills but conversion w8ted for them, stealing their infants for army purposes and taxes ofcourse.

I think urs is funnier hmm :D

just an example for how backwards the ottomans were. they built a astronomic observatory and the sultan wanted to use it for astrology so the astronomer wanting to justify it came up with a prediction. it didn't come true and the sultan ordered it destroyed. i forget the name of the scientist but he was a genius and yet this is how he was treated.

  • @zarni000 well i would like to think they wouldnt be in this mess if they were making their choises, im not saying they would be rocket scientist either though yea i admit u are right in the ottoman part.

  • @rurounisld

they are but that is not really because of the brits i think. they would have been third world regardless. the brits built universities in india. one of the innovators in the area of telegraph was an indian engineer. all that other countries got from ottomans is destroyed churches replaced with mosques.

  • @zarni000 no no im not comparing but i have to remind u india and most of the african countries that today are regarded as 3rd world.

Europeans forced christianity on latin America, africa, asia as the muslims forced islam.

Well in my eyes they are both to be blamed for fanatism.

Ofcourse when we say christians we have to keep in mind the 2 dogmas ( orthodoxs and catholics).

    what a world...

  • @rurounisld

if you compare the countries that were under ottoman occupation to the countries under the british empire there is really no comparison. america, australia, new zealand, hong kong were all under the british empire. the ottoman empire was still feudal 4 centuries after renaissance era and capitalism had already commenced. anybody not muslim was treated as second class and afforded little rights in court (christians couldn't even appear as witness against a muslim in court).

  • @zarni000 im prety sure that from the today status of the countries that were under european empires we can see the disaster. Well yes the brits and the rest ( inc Ottomans) build infrastructure but only to server their purposes and who word in which conditions. Turks builded mosks ontop of churches and baths over public building for their selves in Greece for instance.

Most of the liberated countries admit a gap of culture during the ottoman occupation..

    greets mate
