LITTLE Faith Mwape was born with the feet of her conjoined twin poking out from her buttocks and may never walk as a result.

Surgeons will perform a five-hour operation to remove the Zambian babys underdeveloped brother or sister at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka next Wednesday.

Faith, who was born last April, will only have a chance at a normal life if the legs are separated

Her mother Mercy Lenganji, 18, faces an anxious wait as a team of 10 specialist doctors, led by Prof Lupando Munkonge, perform the unique surgery.

The baby has already spent the past 26 days undergoing tests ahead of the risky operation, funded by the Zambian Government.

Mercy had known she was expecting twins from scans, but during her caesarean section at a small hospital in the Zambian town of Mufilira, doctors discovered one of the babies had not developed.

Mercy said: The doctors kept my child away from me for two days after she was born because they said the sight of her would have put me in shock.

One of four children, Mercys close family have helped her with the stress of the problems.

She said: My parents have been so supportive of me throughout this.

Its possible to remove the extra parts, but its very risky and costs a lot of money.. This is not even rare, there are quite a few people who have this problem.. Some even have twins on their stomachs or heads making it almost impossible for them to walk. The kid in this video isn't too bad, he can actually walk crawl/walk properly..
