Ken, a now retired professor at the University of Alaska, Anchorage Avition Maintenance Technology building, completely left the field of aviation. In his last flight around the patch at Merrill Field in Anchorage Alaska, I was lucky enough to go up with him.
The aircraft is a Cessna 172D with a 220HP Franklin engine. It had the manual 40 degree flaps, Cessna P172D wings (allows for a higher Vne) and some droop tips.
This take-ff shown here is a standard take-off and climb-out. If he wanted to, he could have yanked it off the ground MUCH earlier, and even earlier with a pop of the flaps, but why?

Totally cool plane.

  • A harmless bystander at the fence filming an off the shelf Cessna taking off.....and 150.000+ views? Far out, the world was a more sane place before the internet..lol

  • @MrMazz1970

How about a few feet from the taxiway while standing on the ramp...

  • Did he have a last landing too? You just HAVE to post that video too.

  • REALLY DUMB TITLE!!!

  • RIP ken

  • @AjE123s By reading the description, it technically was his last take-off. If you want to see planes crash, go buy a flight simulator you smartass.

  • @applerent what? were you hoping to see a crash?
