An estimated 90% of people living in poverty in Lao PDR live in rural areas. 40% of rural communities are not connected to the main road network. Revenues from the Nam Theun 2 (NT2)multipurpose development project are flowing back to the people of Laos, improving living conditions, healthcare, education, and providing access in poor and remote areas. See how much people's lives have changed in the remote areas in Champassak province in the south of Lao PDR, miles away from the NT2 project areas. Only in the first year of operation NT2 revenues supported over 300 km of new or improved roads in different parts of Lao PDR, bringing benefits to thousands of people in several provinces of the country.
