I guess they wanted to show that in the end, the bugs will still adapt.
Though... the idea was kinda flawed in my oppinion. C.H.A.S. supposedly has better sensors then any human (some of the most advanced i think) yet they could not detect the new bugs... somehow that seems wrong.

You claim to mourn his death, but you neglected to include the scenes displaying the feature "potential for empathy". I hope you can correct this error.

It's a common thing, the writers ignore the abilities of a charater just to have something happen

i saw that one. i found it disturbing in a way as well. those CHAS machine woud've killed that bug in a heart beat. lol. but since the bug was part of the story they did what they (animator) had to do.

i liked... no... i LOVED C.H.A.S. however if he survived and was in EVERY movie from here on out, the story would turn into "Starship Troopers: C.H.A.S.".
Chas is cool... but he is seriously OVERKILL.

In a way, but if you recall, when that bug mimicking humans shows up and attacks the base it takes out two chas robots with one swing, they don't even get a chance to shoot it :( I guess the makers thought they could power down the chas idea and also hype up that new bug creature at the same time...

I liked the bot, to bad they blew him up. I think he would have been an interesting addition to the story.
