@JohnVaughan Ok, that's good to know. What was it doing all the way up there though?
-
@kaioxygen nope, it was the Wittaker from the 1922 Channel Tunnel trials. Now removed, renovated and in a museum ;-)
-
I remember going down this as a kid. I never had the bottle to go that far though! I never had a torch :-)
-
@tripitaka500 If you mean the one near No 1 Martello Tower I believe it was something to so with mining and nothing to do with the tunnel.
-
Oh that's what that is :) Does anyone remember that massive drilling machine that was sticking out of the cliff until the late 80s (from another abandoned tunnel attempt I guess)
-
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
it scary at 1.08.Notice that the camera is STILL and that something is going over....is not sand......... -
Hey what is the history of it ? did anyone die down there?... any ghost sitings ?
-
its just some dust.

Yes, I can see the ghostly face too, at the time admydragonch2 said ,in the top right hand corner. It seems to have it's mouth open? Very strange?!
This isn't anything to do with the victorian channel tunnel. its simply one of about 20 drainage tunnels at the foot of the chalk cliffs inbetween dover and folkestone. Dug to reduce subsidance on the folkestone to dover train line.
