You can mix, use immediately and ascorbic acid will still oxidize before it is is ever absorbed by the skin but can easily cause irritation of the skin. The best form of ascorbic acid is tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate which is very stable, oil soluble & therefore has a higher degree of penetration. It is more potent than l-ascorbic and also also has the ability to stimulate the skin to produce glycosaminoglycans. It is also effective in lower concentrations. Mad Hippie does not use that form.

Yes a book can be published on just about anything. I currently make all of my skin care products and I haven't paid for a single book or over priced item. There is tons of info on the web provided that the person knows how to weed through the nonsense. LAA is an unstable for of vit C; but there are stable forms like AA2G. I have spoken with many doctors and research specialist who say the total opposite of what your saying. Perhaps some of it is a matter of opinion.

Hate to break this to people...but the human body does not recognise ascorbic acid in powder form, it just simply passes through. If you want lots of Vit C. then blend Broccoli and drink it. Clean, uncooked blended broccoli will do the trick.

I just made this using glycerin. I let the water and "C" sit for 5 minutes. The "C" never dissolved. Even when I shook the bottle. It "settled' to the bottom. But I know I got it on my face because it burns a little. Glad it only good for a week. This first test batch was kind of messed up. I got missed up on the WATER measurement too. Is it 2 tspns of water to ONE tspn of "C". That wasn't enuf. I had to add FOUR tspns of water, but the "C" still didn't dissolve.

I just read that glycerin draws moisture from the air to the skin.

That's prolly why she uses glycerin.

The other thing is, if you used Aloe Vera gel, how much would you use?

AVgel, once opened only has a shelf life of 2 weeks .. I think.

Too bad you didn't get an answer to that question. I'd like to know too.

I've read blogs where ppl DON'T WANT to use glycerin and for some reason, prefer to use Aloe Vera gel, but I don't know why.
