National Railway Equipment: Power Outside The Shops, Dixmoor, IL. 9-9-09.

Here's an overview of the units sitting outside the Dixmoor shops. As many of you know, you can get permission into this facility. Today, I found some interesting stuff sitting behind the shops including Metra F40C #610 and some sort of Korean Alco looking thing.

At the end, I filmed a few old cop cruisers sitting near the shops. Dixmoor Police have had these sitting here for awhile, just like the locomotives at NRE.

I'm not the first to put a video from Dixmoor up here. EJE665 has one and I'm sure if you look around, you'll find more. There's also plenty of photos from here on the railpictures and rrpicturearchives websites, among others. If my video alone did something, thats pretty ridiculous.

Very cool and yet a bit depressing seeing all those old units awaiting scrapping or otherwise. Hopefully, most will at least find use on a shortline or regional somewhere. It reminds me of the time I got a tour of Progressive Rail Services.
