This video documents my comparative analysis of three methods of scratching. I wanted to compare the Traktor records, which use a special timecode to trigger MP3 music as well as an Ipod app called Tonetable which also triggers MP3 tunes with regular vinyl. The results are that the two new technologies are very competitive with traditional vinyl in terms of scratch capability, in my opinion.

  • i am trying to get my first dj setup and i was wondering which is easier and better? i really love vinyl, even though im 16. lol.

  • @MultiJester123 - I will always say start with vinyl. Once you can work vinyl you can work with anything.

  • I'm keeping my old school records

  • @CJ00014 I'm keeping all my records too. But it's nice to have the ability to play stuff with Traktor, especially stuff that is hard to find, or rare stuff that is too expensive.

  • nice one dude, can i have the name of the beat on the tonetable part

  • @troyluciano12

It's just called Phat Beat; it's an instrumental by Wu-Tang Clan feat. Mobb Deep.

  • I got myself traktor audiodj8 about a half year ago but I still use vinyl for about 90% time spent on turntables and I'm scratching at least 1.5 hour per day

  • @djmojorisin that's true...i play in Torq over a friend's house and we can play a lot of rare or weird samples or even make our own...but still, interface, tonetable, and cdj haven't the same sound quality than a record :D

  • GO BEARS! even tho they lost... :(

  • haha dope

  • @djmojorisin ok thanx 4 the info.
