In this video, Buchbinder discusses the spillover of the Darfur conflict into Eastern Chad, where Janjaweed militias have massacred both Darfuri refugees and Chadian civilians. The violence has led to massive displacement, including a reverse refugee flow in which Chadian refugees have fled into Darfur. Buchbinder discusses his documentation of human rights abuses in Eastern Chad, focusing on the Jawara massacre in May 2006.

Author Bio: David Buchbinder is Special Researcher on Chad and Sudan at Human Rights Watch. Since 2005, he has conducted three investigative missions to Eastern Chad, occasionally crossing into Darfur. Buchbinder is a seasoned journalist who worked in southern Africa, South America and central Asia, contributing to the Christian Science Monitor, the Los Angeles Times, the London Observer, and other prominent publications. Buchbinder's recent research in Chad is the basis for Human Rights Watch's report on Chad, "They Came Here to Kill Us" published in January 2007.
