The Mary Parrish Center for Victims of Domestic Violence (MPC) opened in Nashville, TN, in 2001, as a one-stop facility where victims could get help with petitions for Orders of Protection, safety planning, psychological services, food, clothing and legal assistance. Approximately 1,000 women received services at the MPC each year. These women crossed economic, educational, ethnic, sexual orientation, age and racial lines. In 2009, the MPC expanded by opening the largest transitional housing program for victims of domestic violence in Middle TN. Here, women and their children can live safely, free from abuse, and receive all the services they need to heal and thrive. At the MPC, children see their mothers taking positive steps to get their lives back on track. They also see people who truly care about them. In this way, the MPC helps break the cycle of abuse in future generations. The new transitional housing facility was celebrated at the Second Annual Breakfast Fundraiser on Nov. 10, 2009.
