I never supported the war in Iraq but if I were Bush and I had this 'your with us or against us' stance and a stated policy of erradicating the Taliban, why half-ass it. I would have literally rooted them out no matter which nation they went to even if it were Russian territory and told them 'your with us or against us' but Russia stated they are with us with regard to terrorist and thus would have helped in that regard. Today the Taliban still exists and the US failed due to being derailed.

Since those in charge of our nation, especially neo-cons largely need to 'keep the threat alive' we desparately need another global threat after the cold war and one that is equally vague and shadowy so I think instead of systematically erradicating the taliban back in 2003-2005 by doing so in Pakistan we half assed it and instead made them our 'partners'. They are not partners. "you are with us or against us" remember and they clearly were not if it meant eradicating taliban in pakistan

We are in afganistan because our stated goal was to rid the nation of people who harbor and "help" terrorist. In this case the Taliban, though they were basically started in Pakistan and we should tell Pakistan we are moving into your nation to rid your nation, no use the term, Cleanse, your nation of the Taliban. That is what we are suppose to be doing there, and an eradication policy is the only answer. Less will not achieve effective success.
