For most, Ginger was a pretty good girly. =) While we were warming up beforehand, she had an extremely hard time focusing and kept wandering off here and there. haha Anyway, I've been trying to build up her drive again for practicing at home. She only seems to get excited at dog training or when she's at trials. I miss the fun we both used to share more often at home. Anyone have any ideas? I've cut back on treats, walking time, and definitely practice time, but she's still slacking a bit. I'd appreciate your ideas. =)
Thanks!

  • what an awesome little Aussie you have! Just one thing, sometimes you let her enter from the wrong side of the weave poles, the dog should ALWAYS enter from the right side. :) keep up the good work!

  • @lovebcagility Thanks! haha, Yep, I caught that one entry when we were running. I didn't stop because I was trying to just get her going a little bit. :)

  • I love Ginger(;

  • @HannahBanana076 Thanks! Me, too! haha :)

  • Great job! But for ideas on how to keep her motivated, try to keep the sessions short and sweet of course! Do a few smaller sequences that focus on one thing, and then maybe a bigger one to combine it all. And if she gets something hard then really jackpot it and tell her cool she is and even act a little wacko ;). Also when you treat, for my lab I usually use a sock to put her treats in and throw it to reward her in a way for running. But Ginger does look amazing as always!

  • @clearcollie123 Thanks, I love the sock idea. :)

  • @AgilityLover4Life I'll try that. Thanks, Anna!

  • @sarac1 Thanks Sara!

  • @KPMasher Thanks so much Josy! We're looking forward to seeing you guys, too. :)

  • @SwarmLacrosse Great, thanks Robyn! :) I'll will try using a target. We've actually never used one before.

  • Ginger is AMAZING. Oh my gosh. I just can't get over how fast and comfortable she is when she's doing distance work with you!!! :) It makes me smile :) She loves playing with you so much! Can't wait to see moreeeeeee videos :)

  • She looks great, Emily!!! Going through tunnels, and having him speak really gets him drivey, but I'm not sure if that would work for Ginger. :)

  • OMG! she look great!

  • Yay Gingy & Emily! :D

I love her sleek low jump <3

You guys are doing absolutely amazing. I'm so impressed and cannot wait to see you on the 13th!

As for ideas - I did understand just short sequences can take some more focus and fun back. And I love to get her all excited and I'd be like "Claire Claire!!! Lets do agility girlie, com'on girl! Yay!" and just jump around and have fun!

I'm not an expert on all the ideas, but I hope that you and Ging will still have a fun time!!! xxx

  • @SwarmLacrosse Oh and for CeCe, when shes learning something new (jumping for one) she isnt AS drivey so i warm up with a short tunnel course, treat. Do same sequence and add one obstacle that slows her down (jump), treat. etc. And then end with a few tunnel sequences, keeps her guessing and driving forward wanting me to say the tunnel command. And if tunnels aren't gingers favorites then use what ever is her favorite obstacle.

  • Aw great job!

Riley has a drive issue too..the only thing that gets him going is HOT DOGS! And I reward mucho! I had tried a target (his food dish) with the jackpot reward in it and that seemed to get him excited, but he would want to run right to it so that was always hard but it worked? Im too lazy to do that now, so hes retired from backyard practice for now :/
