Apparently Siam Paragon had security guards on duty and Central World did not. Which is why Siam Paragon survived without a scratch while Central got burned to the ground. If that's the case, then those guards are quite literally the bravest men in Thailand. I don't know what they get paid, but the owners of Paragon should give each of them a million+ baht bonus in their next paycheck. They totally deserve it!

As for the red camp under Siam Station, what can I say? How the HELL did all that stuff get down there. I can understand people sneaking food into the camp, but speakers? tents? water cisterns? truckloads of tires?

COME ON! That's just a complete failure on the government's part. I understand that they didn't want to lose the propaganda war, and every time they roughed up a red-shirt, there'd be some foreign journalist conveniently located nearby taking video and talking about government violence against "democratic (HA!)" protesters, but seriously, I don't think anyone would blame the government for stopping a shipment of TENTS into the area. Political protests are one thing, setting up shanty towns in the middle of the street is an entirely different matter.

The other matter is the fact that A LOT of money was spent on this camp, but not on arming the protesters. Nobody can make the claim that this was a non-violent protest. Not anymore. They intended all along for things to get ugly. So if they REALLY wanted those farmers to win, they'd have snuck in a shipment of machine guns, but then they'd have to start listening to the farmers too, and they didn't want that. So instead they whipped them up into a frenzy and then set them lose against the army equipped with nothing more than slingshots.

It's a farce. And just ONCE I'd like those idiot reporters on CNN to take off their ridiculous helmets and flak jackets and actually DO NEWS, instead of simply repeating red propaganda verbatim without questioning it's verasity AT ALL.

  • I think I know the answer to your question. Well maybe because Thaksin gave them money to buy all these tents and generaters. The farmers couldnt effort it so it must be thaksin. Everything was set up by Thaksin. Please reply!

  • @sunglassesgirls845 That's probably true. Although a lot of the red-shirt leaders are rich men too, so I don't think Thaksin was the only one paying for food, equipment, weapons, and signs.

I think there's a big difference between the red-shirt farmers/workers (and what they want) and the red-shirt leaders (and what they want). The farmers want social justice and a more democratic share of Thailand's wealth, but the leaders just want Thaksin back in power at all costs.

  • @KhaoJaiDee1 Will you also ensure your students will be able to make their own choices and formulate their own views and not just go with the guy with the biggest wallet?

  • @sperle2009 They are that angry because they were brainwashed and fed lies from their "leaders". It was an easy thing to do and the government's fault was that it didn't try to counter the lies with better education.

If you weren't so one-sided yourself, you might be able to see this.

  • @sperle2009 It was the government's fault to let the Reds set up camp in Bangkok in the first place!

  • @brownhoneyz Sperle2009 wasn't affected in a negative way. I think he was getting 1000 or 2000 a day, better than his 200 baht a day mopping floors...

  • @KhaoJaiDee1 A Master's Degree from Khao San Road is hardly anything to be proud of.

The Reds have a valid bone to pick -- yes, they've been ignored, but by WHO? How has Thaksin helped them IN THE LONG RUN? All that time in office, and what does he have to show for it? Seems that Thaksin only wanted to help the Reds out for as long as he was in power only. Any second less, and it's a no-show.

  • @KhaoJaiDee1 Seh Deang was killed by his master. He didn't do his job, and he knew too much. He was written off. Funny these conspiracy theories eh?
