as much as I love Joan Sutherland, I need a break from all the proper bel canto stuff every once and a while. sometimes I just get a craving for the gritty, firebrand voice that was la divina. she didn't just sing Carmen, she WAS Carmen. no one had more attitude or soul than Callas.
