@astrialkil maybe in the US, here in the uk the chickens with even the poorest free range conditions still get to spend the half their lives outside on grass
@Keeperz1 Free range means the chickens are kept in a house and there is a tiny door for one chicken at a time to go threw and out side is a cement "run" where the chickens can walk around. Stick to "green pasture" chickens and eggs , it means the chickens are rotated to fresh pastures where green grass grows with bugs and weeds for the chickens to snack on, not dead dirt and poor nutrition grain.
I splurge on one item in my food shopping and that's organic eggs. I think it makes a huge difference in the quality of life of hens and produces better eggs.
Thankyou to all the Organic free-range farmers out there for doing what you do, I shudder at the thought of the battery farmed chickens. Organic is the way to go.

@1pick2sticks cage free means their fed a poor diet, also they live in a cage but they have a bit more space to move.. how ever not that much
so you should really stick to free range or oragnic buddy =)

I see different cartons in the store. There is "Organic" which means no steroids I guess.
Then there is" Free Range". Which means allowed to roam at will I suspect.
But now I see "Cage Free". What is this?

How much are the eggs? $10 a piece, FYI this is not what you are getting when you buy cage free eggs at the grocery store.
