I have this film at home. It was oscar nominated for best foreign film in 89.

An inspired work of genius- funny, serious, and bleeds with intellectual wit. Rich with scenes and situations that will be forever etched into your consciousness. The dvd blurb reads: "It offers more intelligent pleasure than any of us has a right to expect." - I couldn't agree more.

One of the best films I have EVER seen.

@feckintoad Yes, very true, except one could be nailed through the wrists or even the palms since the animal horn would take the weight of the crucified. A closer look at the Pozzuoli Graffito indicates that the subject was nailed through his / her right palm and left wrist - I think two taggers made that graffito: the first showed a man on the cross, then the second made changes to it to show a woman.

@feckintoad He would also be nailed thru the forearms.. between the ulna and the radius bones.. he would also be nailed thru the ankle bones. Both nailings would use a wooden washer to prevent working the impailed limbs off the nail. The animal horn was mandatory. It would be inserted into the anus. The fact that it was blunt made sure that the condemmed could not force himself down on it to hasten his own death by bowel blood loss.
