Né en 1928, Serge Gainsbourg fut une personnalité singulière de la culture française.
Créateur par définition, c'est avec brio que Serge Gainsbourg a su s'inspirer d'autres œuvres, notamment de musique classique, pour agrémenter ses compositions. A son époque, on ne peut pas a proprement parler de sample, mais le processus est similaire. Serge n'a cessé d'emprunter, de citer, de détourné, (mixé, remixé) si bien que ses morceaux servent aujourd'hui a soutenir les lyrics d'EPMD, Busta Rhymes, Mc Solaar ou encore De La Soul.

Saneyes vient s'ajouter à la chaîne en piochant à son tour dans les trésors du musicien. Mais point de pillage, « You're under arrest » est un hommage sincère au génie avant-gardiste dont la musique est ici revisitée et rafraichit ; à aborder comme la suite logique d'une œuvre inachevée.

Born in 1928, Serge Gainsbourg was one of the biggest stars in French music in the second half of the 20th Century.

Creator by definition, Serge was brilliantly inspired by other people's work to enrich his own compositions especially with classical music. In his day, one could not strictly speaking of sampling but the process was similar. Serge never stopped borrowing, quoting, modifying and remixing his songs which now serve the repertoire of artists like EPMD, Busta Rhymes, Mc Solaar or De La Soul.

Saneyes added himself as well into the equation by digging in some of the treasures offered by Gainsbourg. Far from stealing, "You're under arrest" is a sincere tribute to the pioneering genius whose music is here revisited and updated; an obvious follow-up to an unfinished work.
