Hey Chill dude. LOL. I grew up on Dolly. I have an emotional connection with Dolly's version & rendition. Now, I love Whitney too.DON'T get me wrong. I have an emotional connection to Whitney's Version & Rendition of THIS SONG AND The Star Spangled Banner. CAN'T NOBODY SING THIS SONG LIKE DOLLY AND CAN'T NOBODY SING THIS SONG LIKE WHITNEY. Whitney COULDNT sing this song like Dolly IF SHE WANTED TO and VICE VERSA. Dolly couldn't sing this song like Whitney if she wanted to.They both ARE GREAT!

first of all, dolly parton wrote it. second of all.she the first to sing. and third whitney asked dolly if she sing this song.this song came out when whitney was only 11 yrs old she wasn't even famous . she wasn't even in a group she actually started singing at the age of 14. soo how a 11 yrs old girl writes a song that's older than her. everyone thought she wrote and the first one to sing because it was on the bodygaurd . this is way every time this song is played on the radio dolly gets paid

No..Dolly was very happy that ELvis was going to record her hit but Elvis's manager said if Elvis did record the song he would own half the rights to this song and Dolly was hurt and said no..

And to think, Elvis was going to record this. Dolly Parton wouldn't let him record it because it was a special, sentimental song. Now, however, she regrets not letting Elvis record the song. Fate t'is a fickle mistress, no?

They both can sing. Dolly have that sweet smooth voice. Whitney has the powerful strong voice. So they both did a great job

You don't have to be racist to prefer Dolly's version. It's ridiculous to even bring race into it. I prefer Dolly's version not because I think Dolly was a better singer, but because no one puts over a song in the way its writer does. Dolly's version has heart. It's not all about the three-octave range.

In order to have soul you must have hearing. And if you think dolly is a better singer than whitney then do some soul searching.
