@urbex2007 smoke does not equal broke on a diesel. it smokes under the initial load from additional fueling untill the turbo spools up. it takes a second for the turbo to catch up "turbo lag"

@judgeman1103 Black smoke is unused diesel in the combustion cycle, often when far too much is injected or the engine timing is out. SMOKE=BROKE on a diesel, it shouldn't have ANY apart from a puff at the start.
If you inject too much diesel it just causes problems with the exhaust valves and makes them stick open. Try pouring a pint of water in to a small cup, it overflows...that is what happens with too much diesel in a cylinder.
Efficient working diesels do NOT smoke, even under load.

@AgentHog i agree tis that smell of a big diesel engine in the morn but i still like that rich blend of fumes from a V6 petrol also in the morn sort of gets the adrenaline going haha
