Did you miss the entire section in the chapter where he talks about where the Law of Human Nature will put you in dangerous or harmful situations sometimes? Like when a random person is in danger and you don't really want to help them but you feel the need to? You seem to be confusing the Law of Human Nature and some idea of fitting in with the community or common sense.

If only you knew more about C.S. Lewis the man and not just "Mere Christianity". This man donated all the proceeds of his many books to charity - he did not need to be that charitable to be able to survive in society. He met the One who changed his life forever. He was an athiest like you and fought hard to never cease to become one but God used Lewis's intellect to point him right back to the one who gave him his intellect.

@Colton8646 I've read both, when I was trying to hold on to my faith. I read McGrath's book three times in fact. It's a short one, so that isn't saying much. Point is that I was really trying to find a good defense for xtianity. I didn't find it in either of those books, or in any of the others I read, like The Case for Christ, and The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell. I also read Reason for God by Tim Keller. Xtianity is just another religion, like thousands of others.

@JoeSoap68 Agreed, Dawkins is good enough with talking on biology however when he gets onto Theology he leaves his strength. I would reccomend you read The Case For God and The Dawkins Delusion by Alister Mcgrath a atheist turned Christian.

I read this book during my agnostic phase with hopes of getting my faith back. By the time I was half way through the book I was an atheist. Well done C.S.

@JoeSoap68 Do I seem angry in this video? And it is not up to me to take my "atheist angst"..whatever that is...elsewhere. This is my channel. You chose to come to my channel and watch my vid. If you don't want to hear my views on something, then don't watch my videos.

@WineisyourFriend,As you may have gathered I am a Christian.Church of England to be presise. What bothers me is how angry Atheisists are in America? In your defence, maybe this is a reaction to the evangelical baptists of America ramming religon down yout throats!!As for Richard Dawkins....well that man has been found out time and time again to be false,(well in the UK anyway). If you do not want to follow Jesus Christ well thats fine.Just take your Atheist "angst" elsewhere!

@JoeSoap68 Being a well known intellectual doesn't make a man infallible, and his professional University work isn't relevant to his treatment of any particular subject addressed in this book. It's best if you can set aside the hero-worship. It's fine if you disagree, and I'm fine accepting when I'm wrong, but you should show me how I'm wrong. Simply praising Lewis doesn't accomplish that.
Or, do you think that Richard Dawkins' credentials should make him impervious to criticism as well?

I found it amazing when you described part of this book as an "over simplification ".Obviously you must be an accomplished academic?CS Lewis was an intellectual giant of his time.I think I'm correct in saying he was a tutor of English at Oxford and Cambridge University's,arguably the two best learning centres in the world!!I think you may need to read this book because it's a masterpiece!!!
@WineisyourFreind,You need to get an education thick yank.If you cannot take someone disagreeing with your point of view become a dictator asshole!Look up "angst",it may be a start for you.

@JoeSoap68 So let me get this straight: You choose to watch my video, on my channel, then tell me to "take my atheist angst elsewhere" even though nobody forced you to watch, I ask you to be specific on how I'm wrong, and say I'm fine accepting when I'm wrong, but you should show me how I'm wrong...then you call me a "thick yank" and a dictator..and an asshole, and fail to address any of the points I raised.
You're clearly not interested in a civil discourse. You're a troll. Buh-bye.
