Television and it's effect today to create an apathetic and brainless society that questions nothing. We have allowed the TV to be our babysitter, losing original thought, and believing whatever is fed to us. Turn it off, and get your mind back.

  • Another statistic of the American youth: Average amount of time per day spent watching television: 6 to 6.5 hours

Average time per day reading by American youth: 14 minutes.

  • @bttalbot Yep..I read voraciously as a teen and still do. There is so much lost when we allow something to our thinking for us. Imagination is something that makes us unique among mammals. The ability to let your mind form the pictures as you read....I used to call it a 'mind vacation'. So much is lost...thank you for watching. Hugs.

  • Great stats, but why would i believe you!!!lol.I love watching the news, and the same story is on two different networks, and they bend it so much to go with their agenda.O dam i have to go...mtv as a great new reality show on,byeeee.

  • Lol, you. For the most part when I was growing up I was glued to the tube after school, work, before bed. But I am an avid reader, so turning it off is not so hard for me. I just got so tired of what it became, it losts it shine, and is filled with whine, and whispers of 'you should be afraid!' I got fed up.

  • Very insightful and truthful. Sorry I missed this a few days ago ~~

  • Thanks Wind. Peace and hugs.

  • Truth is not always pretty.. but we all are artists.. and we can make a 'better frame,' if we decide this one is not good enough for us. yeah we can.

YOU ROCK Ron.. thanks for this - another great one!

  • I know what you mean Minx,

my husband Marcel always used to believe everything what was said at tv, but he does understad now, because he also try to listen to two sides of a story that not all what said is true.

I'm afraid that the tv here is getting worse and worse also.

Aspecialy around elections it is realy bad.

  • I have some fond memories also. Our tv is worse, I understand than yours over there. One thing to keep in mind about TV is, where is the controversy? The questioning minds? Does it make you think for yourself or for the masses? What I object to is absorption without thought. Believing everything told to you without question. Why do we presume that they will always tell us the truth? And who's version of the truth? Lol..peace. You started me spouting. Hugs Jolanda.

  • I do agree a lot of crap on tv, but i also still remember when i was young, we always watch icespeed skating on tv. And i will not forget how exciting that was.

The whole family supporting the dutch skaters, i will not forget those moments

But you are right about the tv makers trying to make up our minds, telling us how whe should see and think about everything

    x

    Jolanda
