For a start, being a flanker his skills would be a complete waste in League wouldn't they? Not much use for a fetcher when you can't even compete for the ball.
Secondly, public schools in NZ are just that, for the public. Not these posh private schools you have in the UK. Union is played by everyone, I doubt you could find a school in the country that doesn't have a first 15, public or private.
