Well... when the decent muslims.. which there are many.. turn on the morons making them look bad by those falsely claiming "muslim".. perhaps the public view will change. When any horrific crime or act of terrorism is committed, it is human nature to at least think "that was not" my religion, my race, my gender or my ethnicity.
