The La Brea tar pits and Page Museum are located within Hancock Park in Los Angeles, California. The museum houses complete skeletons of fossil mammals and birds from the Ice Age environment that existed in the Los Angeles basin 12,000 - 40,000 years ago. Among the specimens on display are columbian mammoths (Mammuthus columbi), dire wolves (Canis dirus), American lions (Panthera leo atrox), California sabertooth (Smilodon californicus) and short-faced bears (Arctodus simus).
