Because school says so??? I was there yesterday and i wasn't there because the school said so. I also went through the trenches, did i have to? No. I went because it's an interest of mine and that the soldiers deserve to be remembered for what they have done especially the ones that were never found.

Hmmm... It was the Americans clapping at the Ceremony as if it was some kind of show. It was like they had no clue what it was...

I totally agree with you, Chevers1956.
Please don't listen to the that ignorant git, we DON'T think the way he does...

I was in the US military for 37 years. I learned about the Great War and toured those Hallow Fields where all Wars are measured. Menning Gate Taps moved me and gave me help in overcoming 2 years in Vietnam that made no sense.I am so glad we the Americans went to help in 1916 to bring Victory and dignity for our Europe brothers. The deaths of WW 1 overwhelm me . God Bless America.
i would like to deicate this post to my friends brother who was on monday sadly K.I.A whilst on operations in afghanistan.R.I.P MARINE Lucas.

Fortunately, there are fellow citizens of Ypres who show respect for the sacrifice of so many. Your Fire Brigade which has enacted The Last Post at the Menin Gate over 25,000 times since 1918 for instance. No-one ordered them to do it, least of all the British, and the token is VERY much appreciated over here.
