Newfoundland is known for traditional music, but what's sometimes forgotten is how these traditions can grow; The Dardanelles are a by-product of a culture in progress. Armed with a love of the music of their native home, and an energy found more often in three-piece punk bands than in five-piece folk acts, they have become of the hottest groups to come out of Atlantic Canada in years. Meet Tom Power (guitar, banjo), Matthew Byrne (bouzouki, guitar, vocals),Emilia Bartellas (fiddle), Aaron Collis (accordion) and Richard Klass (bodhran). Collectively, this band may change the way you think about traditional folk music.
