Talking About Teaching with Jim Knight

I was a student of Mr. Covarrubias , I had him as a 8th grade language arts teacher, all I have to say he is by far one of the best english teachers I have ever had :) !

Thank you Jim and Michael for creating this video. Student engagement starts first with trusting, encouraging teachers. Generally, those teachers are also willing to work with coaches to reflect back and welcome suggestions on how to improve their own teaching experience. Getting past threatening feelings some teachers have when given an opportunity to partner with an instructional coach can sometimes be challenging. I'm looking forward to more Talking about Teaching videos!

I think the film is intended to teach about instructional coaching, not to teach about teaching. That's why I think that there is less footage of student-student interaction, and more footage of Mr. Covarrubias teaching.

A collaborative seating arrangement supports engagement; It would be effective to see more student-to-student "talk" and less "teacher talk". How long have student been working collaboratively?
