Good job Mr. August. But 30s doesn't need the apostrophe. Just a heads up! :)

One thing I've learned is that always start in the middle of the action and know the right moment to exit the scene or else you're screwed.

John, I just want to say that I am very grateful that you keep the blog up, and that you go so far as to post youtube videos.
You are grooming a new crop of burgeoning screenwriters single handedly.
Thank you.

there is nothing here that i didn't know but it helps a lot to open up some knots and tighten some bolts... so at the end of it all- its helpful. thanks john.

Amazing video - it makes me feel like I wasted three years on a film school (these seven minutes of this video were more valuable).

Nice. Watching you work is a great way to learn subtle tricks.
You did a great job of "entering a scene", but a couple things got lost - letting the audience know when the factory closed down and the fact that Kara wants to talk to someone about it. There's also no description of the location (not that "small hotel" is a great description).
Those might be covered elsewhere or it may not matter, just pointing it out...
