A group of young men, raised in North America, the jonas brothers song lyrics s.o.s, but whose personal backgrounds are representative of all the Caribbean Antilles, has joined together in order to bring a positive message to our youth. Their name is CNOTE.
David "D'Lo" Pérez, Raúl "RaRa" Molina, Josh "J-Kid" Correa, Orlando "O.T." Torres, and Johnathan "Jae" López are the members of this magnificent vocal group whose voices and dancing truly amount to a first class presentation. CNOTE's live performances generate a fusion between the best that the Spanish speaking youth has to offer, with an uncanny combination of the Anglo-Saxon pop culture. They generate a world-class presentation that does not forget its ethnic and cultural roots.
The musical themes that characterize the group, combine the band's unique harmonies and interpretations of the sounds and rhythms of today's youth, while singing in Spanish, English, or in the language spoken by many of our young Latinos today -- Spanglish.
That was precisely the vision that Raúl and David shared when they planted the seed to create CNOTE.
"More than anything else, what we wanted was a group of five Latinos raised in the United States, whose ability and artistic talent was a reflection of the best of both worlds," says David. "Our music combines pop culture and the typical Latin-American rhythms that were played to us by parents. That was the way Raul and I were raised, and we wanted to work with a group of artists with similar upbringings, and who at the same time, shared our interests."
After David and Raul organized auditions in key cities around the United States in New York, Miami, Orlando and Los Angeles, they began their search for the best available talent, and in the spring of 2005, they finally completed CNOTE with the additions of Josh, Orlando and Jonathan.
Soon David and Raul knew they had picked the right crew when they saw that Josh, Orlando, and Jonathan had a similar work ethic. "We immediately discovered that we had the same ambitions and drives, and that we all had that special desire," Raúl explained.
From the beginning, the chemistry amongst the members of the group proved to be extraordinary, and the boys soon began to produce and create their musical themes and choreography. As a result, they have not stopped working, writing compositions, and preparing new dance routines.
Their first cut, "Wepa", was recorded with a pop sound, and includes a verse composed by world famous DJ Tony Touch. The group also recorded a reggaeton version with Webal and Alex. Both versions did very well in the autumn of 2006 when they were serviced to "Hurban" radio stations in the United States, and particularly, in Puerto Rico. The video, directed and choreographed in part by the group, airs consistently on MTV Puerto Rico, and on various Latin music channels.
"We are not in this to satisfy our own vanity", says David. "The important thing is to create the best possible music and entertain our audiences with our live performances." CNOTE is more that just a simple musical group, "we are a youth based movement, and we represent the musical tastes, images and feelings of the Latin youth."
Presently, CNOTE begins a new stage in their development with the recording of their first self-titled CD. "We have finally realized our vision, but we still need to do more, and to go further," said David. "We are very proud to have had the opportunity to create our own music, which we will present to our families, our friends and to our fans. If we continue to create powerful work that speaks on behalf of our community; and if we can continue to find togetherness for all in our music, we are, undoubtedly, destined for success."
CNOTE's track record is very impressive already. They have performed with Don Omar and Víctor Manuelle, as well as with reggaeton giants Daddy Yankee and Ivy Queen.
The group has also appeared on national television Latin programs such as Despierta America , No te Duermas, El Gordo y la Flaca, Escándalo TV, and others; as well as at the world renowned Copacabana in New York, Club Mansion and Club Oxygen, in Miami , and Club Brava. In Puerto Rico, they shared billing with Daddy Yankee and Pitbull at the legendary Pier 10, and appeared in front of millions in the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City last year.
CNOTE presents the best of our youth, for our youth, and their rhythms, as well as their musical themes, are deep rooted in the taste preferences of the new Latino, today's young adults, which, by the way, are the Latinos of tomorrow
