  • Something this guy did WRONG was that he tightened the string before he tuned the guitar.

You really should adjust the length of the string to the next tuner up the headstock, and then tighten. You should have between 2 - 3 coils on the E - D strings and 4 - 6 coils on the G - e string.

The reason why is when it comes to different tuning setups on your guitar. If you use this guys method, you gonna have trouble dropping your tune past 1 step without the strings coming undone.

  • Very useful. Thank you.

  • @6pwner Roughly 2 inches should do it to get 3 to 4 wraps around the post. This also helps with avoiding the high e string snapping when u tune up.

  • how much slack do u need to rewind the strings?

  • How come my strings dont wrap around the tuners 360 degrees but much less

  • this helped me so much, thanks!!

  • @OMMIAMSalvation Yeah, you think that a guy who works for a guitar string manufacturer - and especially a spokesman - would have common knowledge on how to properly string a guitar.

Im surprised he didn't just tie knots and then tighten.

  • @sc12100 obviously, this man doesn't drop-tune. lol.

  • @tubbkidd that's a myth

  • Why take all the strings off? I thought you were to do one string at a time so you don't mess up the neck. I like to have the string wrapped at least three times around the peg.
